You must use a Solid State Single Phase Voltage Regulator like the BAJA DESIGNS 12203. It will fit in place of the stock regulator perfectly and is 100% plug and play with my harness.
 
Standard factory-style regulators will not work because they rely on a chassis ground to dump excess AC voltage. A full-wave unit forces all AC electricity from your floated stator through an internal diode bridge, cleanly converting it to DC before it reaches your battery terminals.​​​​​​​
 
For a battery, I recommend the Mighty Max 1.3 AH. This is the same battery I used for many years with excellent results, and it has proven to be extremely reliable. It also fits perfectly in the factory tool compartment with no modifications required.
